Big Art episode 4

Big Art concludes on Sunday May 31st, 7pm, Channel 4

"Fabulous fun" - The Guardian

"Engaging" - Time Out

"Superb" - Sunday Telegraph

Big Art launched four years ago when people across the country were given the opportunity to create world-class art in their own backyards. But, with the public in the driving seat, does it actually result in better art? The Big Art sites, each geographically and socially unique, have balanced funding, local opinion and working with world-class artists.

Some are about to see their Big Art dreams come to life, while others are floundering. In St.Helens the whole town is watching the hill where the former colliery was as the artist's vision for the ex-miners takes shape, while in Burnley the whole town is about to be covered with art. But in Cardigan, local resistance to Big Art remains high and in Beckton, East London, the traditionalists are about to embrace the modern art in a way they never thought would be possible.
